Henry T. Handy (1845-1916) of Cataumet, Massachusetts (part of the town of Bourne on Cape Cod) was my mother’s paternal grandfather. After a brief career as a whaler, he returned home and became a farmer.
This advertisement appeared in the Bourne, Falmouth, Sandwich (Mass.) Directory for the year 1900.

William S. (Bill) Dalzell was a good friend whom I first met when I came to New York in 1969.

Posted below as a downloadable Word document is a brief article about my Wright ancestors from Northern Ireland.
I am Wright descendant on the side of my paternal grandfather, Thomas Gordon Smith (1885-1967). My earliest known Wright ancestors were George Wright and his wife who was perhaps Mary (_____) Wright or Jane (Bonner) Wright. The attached article focuses on the genealogy of their son Colwell (aka Caldwell) Wright (ca. 1826-1901) of Boston, MA, my great-great grandfather.
Additional information about Colwrll Wright is included in my post “Thomas Smith, Jr. (1861-1894) and Jennie (Wright) (Smith) Simpson (1863-1948)”

My earliest Whittredge ancestors (on my paternal grandmother’s side) came from England and settled in Essex County, Massachusetts. They, like many others at the time, were a disputatious lot and were involved in numerous court cases, often over what we — from a distance, historically speaking — would consider minor matters. The Essex County court records are extraordinarily complete and well preserved.
Below is a downloadable Word document wherein are contained excerpts of a few such cases.
